Garden Office Cardiff
A garden office is an additional workspace that acts as an extension to your house.
Usually found in the back garden close to the main house, garden offices are an increasingly popular option in Cardiff, Wales for individuals doing a wide range of jobs from different occupations.
A garden office suits not only those working remotely, but also as a base for small businesses.
The installation and running costs, compared to the equivalent rented space elsewhere, makes them a cost-effective option.
Building one could be the ideal solution if other options – an extension, loft conversion or moving home – are ruled out.
Garden Room Sanctuary can design a garden office space in Cardiff tailored entirely to your needs, or you can pick from our range of existing models if it is more convenient.
As standard, every piece of wood we use is sourced sustainably and quality-tested before installation by a member of our professional fitting team.
Our garden offices in Cardiff are clad with a heat-treated timber that is resilient to damage, unaffected by a demanding and changing British climate and blends in with its surroundings in any garden.
How do I heat garden office?
The Cardiff weather brings with its unpredictability and changing conditions, making it a necessity for your garden office to both keep in and circulate heat.
Every garden office from Garden Room Sanctuary comes with a minimum of 100m insulation to the floor, walls and roof ensure your workspace is warm and habitable all year round.
We also install garden offices with quality bi-folding doors and windows with toughened double-glazed glass to limit the amount of heat loss.
Our standard specification for all garden building designs includes a 2kW electric wall panel heater.
The size of your office, along with the number of sockets and your budget, will determine how best to keep it cosy throughout the winter.
An electric heater is a popular option because they heat air quickly and can be free-standing.
Cheap to buy and ready to plug into your power supply, the electric heaters are often controlled by a thermostat and have a timer that can be used to warm the space before you start work.
Electric radiators, including an oil-filled option, are a credible alternative.
They can be wall-mounted too if you prefer a fixed heat source.
A wood-burning stove is a neat accessory for any timber structure and looks the part, but there is an additional cost to have one installed by a professional with the appropriate qualifications.
Underfloor heating is another possibility for heating up your garden office.
How big can my garden office be?
Most garden offices don’t need planning permission from your local planning authority in Cardiff and installing one is a straightforward and stress-free choice from start to finish.
To prove as much, all of the Garden Room Sanctuary’s offers are designed to comply with existing building regulations.
That means you don’t have to spend more money, and waste time, going through an application process.
That is because garden building are classified as permitted development, providing they meet the following conditions:
- They must not take up more than half of the area of land around the original house
- A single-storey structure with a maximum eaves height – measured from ground level at the base of the outside wall to a point where it meets the upper surface of a flat roof – of 2.5m
- An overall height, including the roof, of no more than 4m
- The build must not be within 2m of a boundary if it is taller than 2.5m, or 1m if it is less than that
- No verandas, balconies or raised platforms
- No sleeping accommodation, nor plans to use it as a living space
We have a wide range of design options for garden offices for customers in Cardiff, including bespoke solutions tailored exactly to what you need, within the parameters above.
