New Year, New Projects: Why a Garden Room is the Ultimate Gift to Yourself

 Garden Room Sanctuary / News

Christmas may be the time of giving, but when it comes to New Year, it’s about making things better for yourself. You may do that through fitness or mindfulness, or even a commitment to doing something you love. But while these are all worthwhile resolutions, there’s something else you can do to improve your chances of achieving your New Year goals – gift yourself a garden room.

Versatile, customisable, and comfortable, a garden room could be the ultimate gift you could give to yourself as the year nears its end. Here’s why.

Six Reasons Why a Garden Room is the Ultimate New Year’s Purchase

Space

Sometimes the reason you don’t ‘get stuff done’ is because you have nowhere to do it. Whether it’s doing more exercise, meditating, playing with the kids, practising music, or writing a novel. You need space. You need somewhere to keep your equipment where you don’t have to spend tine getting it out and putting it away. And in some cases, you might need some time just for you, without interruptions. A garden room can give you that. Next to the house but not of it, it provides a dedicated area for you to make your own. You might use it as a home cinema, music studio, or gym. But whatever you need to be more you and enjoy the things you love, a garden room can help.

Peace

We’ve sort of covered this above, but it’s worth mentioning a second time. There are times at home where you can’t hear yourself think, let alone concentrate on exercising, creativity, or work. A garden room can give you a peaceful spot to retreat to whenever you need to focus. And if you invest in sound-proofing within your design, if also gives you a space to make as much noise as you need – whether for playing music, playing games, or primal screaming into the void!

Connectivity

Few of us can say that we have all the room we need. A guest bedroom is a luxury space that most of us can’t afford. And yet with a spare room comes the opportunity to spend more time with friends and family. It provides a private spot for the in-laws when they come for their annual visit. It affords a bed for grandchildren to stopover, or grown children to return to. And it offers an open invitation to old friends whenever they’re in the area. With a garden room, you can create a stand-alone miniature dwelling with bedroom, lavatory, shower, and micro-kitchen, if you wish to. All at the bottom of your garden.

Income

Less worried about friends and family and more concerned with a passive income? A garden room can do that too. Whether it’s boosting your retirement coffers, or just making the most of your assets to add a new income stream. With the right design, a garden room can become a year-round holiday let. Maximising the potential of your property without invading your personal space.

Flexibility

One of the best things about garden rooms is that they can change with your needs. So, while you might need a home office now, you can turn it into a gaming room, garden bar, or ‘granny annex’ later. Or you could just enjoy a flexible space – a cinema room in winter, a garden entertainment area in summer. Garden rooms can be whatever you want them to be. And unless you install fixed features, like a spa bath, in the middle of the space, you can quickly and easily repurpose them.

Value

While adding value to your home is probably not the primary reason to invest in a garden room, it’s certainly an added bonus. Garden rooms can add around 5% to the total value of your home. Some say more, depending on the quality of the build. By increasing your home’s usable square footage, your garden room not only gives you a space to enjoy now, but to benefit you later.

A garden room makes the perfect present for yourself because it gives you what you need. And while your needs might change throughout the seasons or years, a high-quality garden room can evolve to meet them.
