How to Create a Festive Cinema in Your Garden Room

Choose your screen
You’ve got a couple of choices if you want to use your garden room as a home cinema. You can choose a large television, which is the easiest option. Or you can choose a projector and screen. Projector screens are more authentic, and significantly bigger – as much as 200 inches, if you have the space! But that will depend upon the size of your room and your preferences. Then set it up with your favourite subscription services.
Select a sound system
Part of what makes the cinema experience so spellbinding is the surround sound. Your garden room is obviously going to be smaller than your average cinema. So, you don’t need the most powerful system around. But a surround sound system with a subwoofer and seven-channel speakers can provide that all immersive experience you’re looking for.
Think about your lighting
If you didn’t purchase your garden room with a home cinema in mind, the lighting may need to be adjusted. By investing in dimmable bulbs, you can control the mood. But in addition to that, you’re also going to have to address your windows. One of the most appealing features of contemporary garden rooms is the glass frontage. But that’s not conducive to an enjoyable cinema experience. So, invest in black out blinds or screens, to make sure that external light doesn’t hamper your experience.
Invest in the best possible seating
The size of your garden room will partly dictate the type of seats you can have. As well as the number that will fit in the space. But as a guiding principle, for home cinema seats, you need to think comfort. If they can recline, that’s even better. And if you’re planning on involving snacks, maybe think about easy-clean materials, such as leather!
Set the scene
If you’re going to the effort of creating a festive cinema at home, you need to make it look the part. Frame some vintage Christmas film posters to dress the walls. Consider a red carpet to make it look more festive and feel more cosy. Home popcorn machines are available for around £20. If you’re really serious, you can find a tabletop commercial popcorn maker for less than £150! Add in some decorations – away from the screen – and maybe a tree by the door. Bring in some blankets so you can snuggle down in style.
There’s not much in life that is better than spending time with your family in front of a good Christmas film. And if you have a garden room that you use as a multipurpose space, it’s really simple to turn it into a festive home cinema. And the best thing is, when Christmas is over, you can switch out the festive posters, take down your decorations, and enjoy your home cinema throughout the year.
